Ekko’s living a stranger’s life, except the stranger got the girl. He’s in a stranger’s body, but it looks just like his own.
He stands in front of a mirror, turning his hands over and over. These hands are soft and unscarred. He has a papercut on his third finger that’s almost healed, scraped by a man that wasn’t him.
“You coming?” Powder asks, curled up in the blankets. Her chin rests on her folded arms, eyes blue and sleepy.
Ekko takes one more look at himself. He doesn’t understand how this could’ve ever been the person he became.
“Yeah,” Ekko says. “’Course.”
