“Get the fuck away from me!”
“Perimedes” Eurylochus started, carefully picking his way down the steps.
“Perimedes, control yourself” Odysseus spoke over him.
“Oh, fuck you” Perimedes huffed out, a tired, hollow sound.
Odysseus squared his shoulders, stare hardening.
“Enough” he said. “If you want to make a scene, at least wait until we’re back on the beach.”
Perimedes’ nostrils flared.
"You're a fucking hypocrite!"
Or the one where yet another tragedy has struck, tensions climb impossibly higher, and all Odysseus would like is a Fucking Break!

Odysseus and his crew (what's left) manage to escape Poseidon and dock at the first island they see.
But grief isn't all they must contend with. There's the betrayal to deal with. The safety (or lack thereof) of staying on this mysterious island. And the guilt.

“We will do all that, and more if we think it might appease their spirits, but first, I will see Polites’ leg tended to” Odysseus said.
Eurylochus pressed his lips together. He thought he could feel Polites’ blood drying over his hands, crusting around his knuckles. He wondered why Odysseus chose to hold Polites’ hand, while Eurylochus was left holding together his opened flesh.Or the one where Polites lives.
The storm still happens.
Eurylochus still doubts.

"Polites takes off at a run, heaving like a chariot horse.
Odysseus’ head is turned, keeping his men focused and alive. His feet dart along the uneven ground, never still, never an easy target.
But he doesn’t know, the cyclops–the club! It’s nearly the length of his entire arm; he’s too close! They all are, a swarming beast, suddenly in range.
And Odysseus is the head."The cyclops is a fraction slower, or Polites a bit quicker--whatever the twist of fate, Odysseus gets to keep his friend (and the fragile hold he's been white knuckling since Astyanax) a little longer.
No one's left unscathed, however.

Stede’s been back for a little over a week. Eleven days to be exact. In those days he might have held five total conversations with Ed.
Well, conversations might be a bit of a stretch.Ed doesn't even want him near during raids (and this is the first Stede's been a part of since his return!)
Stede's not sure how much more he can take.Then they get boarded.
And their odds don't look great.This was his ship once, and it's still his crew in danger. He knows how to pull his own weight.
If Ed won't stop giving Stede the cold shoulder long enough to listen, then Stede's just going to have to take the problem into his own hands. -

Summary
Edward stands up straighter, thoughts of strategy and escape leaking right out of his head the moment his eyes land on the prisoner.
Stede stands out of the shadows, his blond locks, white, and slightly rumpled, shirt, and wide brown eyes in full display.
His wrists are encased in manacles–which, alright, in what universe does the Gentleman Pirate need manacles, while motherfucking Blackbeard is allowed full range of the cell?
"Ed!” Stede starts, hand half-extended toward Edward’s shadowy corner, as his eyes finally adjust to the dark.
“Fancy–um, fancy meeting you here. Ah…been here long? Ed? Are you hurt? Let me–”“Thought I told you you don’t get to call me that anymore” Edward grumbles back. He doesn’t think Stede should have forgotten so soon, considering it’s only been a month.
Or the one in which Stede & Ed find themselves sharing a cell, one month after Stede's less-than-stellar return to the Revenge.
Ed wasn't willing to forgive then & he isn't now.
Ed's certain he can escape and put this (second) Stede encounter behind him.
Then the guards come for Stede. . . -

It’s been nine days since Jim last saw Olu (or any of the crew beyond Frenchie, for that matter.) Four days since Ivan finally let them out of their—Olu and their’s—room. Three days since they started planning.
They were going to kill Blackbeard.
Or the one were Jim comes to the wrong conclusion, and nothing really changes. They were always meant for revenge, after all. It's what they were raised for.

“Did the English change their mind ‘bout killing him? Or did he not make it when you busted out? Or did you…um, decide to escape on your own? Did he–”Edward pulls out his pistol, not knowing–or caring–if it was loaded, and, without raising his head, points it square between Frenchie’s eyes.
“Not another word, not one single fucking word, or it’ll be your corpse that goes overboard next.”
And Frenchie nods vigorously, head bobbing, hands raised, and doesn't say another word.
But he’s already ruined what was left of Edward’s day.
Or the one where a simple question from Frenchie sends Edward back to that night on the dock in the most unpleasant way.

Summary
Stede’s return isn’t going quite as well as he’d imagined.
He’d imagined sweeping onto the deck, a suave line on the tip of his tongue.
He'd imagined getting a bit of a cold shoulder.
He’d even imagined, in his more melancholy moments: nothing. Coming aboard to find Ed had gotten well over the passing fad of ‘The Gentleman Pirate.’However, being forced to walk the plank had been decidedly low on his list of hypotheticals. Non-existent, he might even say. It's certainly a snag in his plans to sweep Ed off his feet and profess his recently realized love.
He's not too worried, though. It's hard to worry about anything other than the tired lines underneath Ed's eyes. The heavy slouch of his shoulders.
His Ed is hurting; that's all Stede can think about. All he can see. There's no danger greater than his best friend (and hopefully something more??)'s pain.
Except, of course, the water.Meanwhile, Ed's about to find out there are worse things than heartache, than hope, than this constant hangover, even than Izzy's nagging expectations.
Like indecision. Like fear.
Like the sea.
She isn't one to return gifts... -

When Bonnet returns to open arms Izzy is certain his minutes aboard the Revenge (and at his captain's side) are numbered.
When Bonnet intervenes to keep him on board, Izzy refuses to be grateful.
When Edward refuses him the closeness they shared before Bonnet's return, he accepts his new standing.The Revenge is as odd as ever and, with Edward off-limits, Izzy is public enemy number one. No matter, he can adapt. Even if Bonnet's crew insist on being difficult. Even with Bonnet prancing around, the picture-perfect farce of a Gentleman, pushing Izzy to the brink with his aggressive, showy "civility."
And if Izzy's never had as difficult a time with a crew as aboard the Revenge? Well, no one said pirating would be easy.
And if Bonnet insists on being "helpful" and going out of his way to "include" Izzy? Well, Izzy's no blind fool to fall for his manipulations. Or his support. Or his praise. Or his "genuine" smiles. That fucking ponce.He can handle it. For Edward. He's Izzy Hands; Blackbeard's loyal dog.
If only they knew the accuracy behind the statement.Or the one where Izzy is a werewolf and it's hardly an issue. Until it is.
