Teru is picking up Mob's shift at Spirits and Such, just for today. Though unfortunately for Teru, he has underestimated the strength of the spirit on today's exorcism docket.
Trapped together in a pocket dimension, Master Reigen waits patiently as Teru burns through failed attempt after failed attempt to vanquish the spirit. It's kind, really, of Master Reigen to offer Teru so many opportunities. But surely the man is tired by now. Surely he'd rather exorcise the spirit himself and just dismiss Teru for the day.
Master Reigen has no such plans. Instead, he has so many questions for this boy who lives all alone and who seems to try far too hard at all times. It's almost like this boy is trapped in his own mind, eternally making up for something Reigen does not know about...

He instinctively leaned away from the hand while trying not to move his head, as Charles, Lieutenant Epps, and Father Mulcahy appeared to have a brief conversation. They all looked slightly troubled, especially Father Mulcahy, whose eyebrows were knit tightly together, a hand wrapped around his rosary. ... God, this was infuriating, BJ thought, wishing he could understand what they were saying.

But the enthused way she explains is just so fitting. She gets this bright cadence to her voice that reminds Ann of lilies or sunflowers and is so different from her usual stern, commanding alto.
“You’re actually really cute,” Ann says, watching the way Makoto turns the ring over in her hands.
… which is evidently the absolute wrong thing to say, because Makoto looks like she’s just been shot.
