The TV rattled and groaned- eventually sputtering into a lame buzz that only seemed to highlight the dead screen.
Great. This thing’s never going to work, Shikadai groaned internally.
Despite this, he did not move.
As if- If he looked away, he would lose the imaginary staring contest between him and his opaque reflection.
As if he would miss the words that whispered to him underneath the electronic whirl,
“Shikadai!” His mom’s voice thundered below him.
He pretended he never jumped at the sound.
“I- I’m coming- One sec!” Casting his dark eyes at the screen one last time…
Right…
It didn’t look back.
“What a drag,” He dumbly kicks the forsaken box.
“Shikadai! Get down here!”
The boy sighs, “I’m coming right now!” opening the attic’s wooden hatch on the floor-
‘click-click’
That’s when he halted, staring at the sudden light before him.
The bright scene is introduced by an unfamiliar voice,
“Hey! Asuma-Sensei…”

Jason was sick of people telling him how he felt. ‘You don’t need us anymore,’ Artemis had told him, as if saying it would make it true. As if Jason needed someone to justify keeping them around. But three weeks back in Gotham and all Jason felt was fucking bored and lonely.
It was a relief, then, when some random New Yorker was thrown into his living room through a portal straight out of some LSD daydream.
