“Man?” Childe furrows his brows. “What? Does he owe us anything?”
“... That man probably only owes you something, sir.”
Huh? That’s weird. As far as Childe knows, he has collected all the debt assigned to him. He even calculated if he got the right amount. Did he make a mistake? And out of all the hours the man can bother Childe, it’s in the middle of the night?
Childe rubs his nose bridge in annoyance. He already achieved good sleep and now someone just interrupted it... Great. Whoever this is, Childe’s going to make sure he knows he just spoiled his mood. “Who is this man?”
“Erm...” Ekaterina’s eyes shy away from his. “He’s Mister Morax, sir.”

It wasn’t the lights playing tricks on him when Childe saw the man’s eyes gleam, and he craved to know what that meant.
“Perhaps I give you too much credit.” He was smiling, now, and Childe’s breath caught in his throat. That was certainly new. “Maybe you do not listen as much as I thought you do.”
Childe processes just how different Rex Lapis, God of Contracts, and Zhongli, Wangsheng Funeral Consultant, really are.
They coincide at the worst of times, and it does some truly awful things to his heart.
