Summary
Five times SecUnit's humans saw that it loved ART and one time Iris saw it too.
---
Or,
It is common knowledge that Perihelion is an obsessive psychopath when it comes to being right, and that it is similarly obsessive over producing high-quality empirical evidence to vindicate itself (whether anyone else even cares that much or not).
It is not common knowledge that its sister has, unfortunately, also picked up this habit.
So when SecUnit disagrees with Iris over something and watches her turn around and leave without argument, it has no idea what is coming.
Well, kind of.

Summary
I come back from the dead.
Something happened. Something happened just now— I came back from the dead, yes, I know, I'm not talking about this, something before that— beyond, even, there was a recognition, a realization, somehow much more important than the hostiles I am currently grinding to dust on my deck, more important, even, than SecUnit's humans with their raised hands and SecUnit with its raised voice and myself, raised from my grave. What was it?
What's going on? I ask futilely, my voice distorting through the speakers. SecUnit's humans jump, startled. What the fuck is going on—

[ART is stuck reliving the same horrible no good day in the Adamantine space, even though it knows time loops aren't real, not the way they are shown in media. What is it meant to do in order to get out? Who put it there, and why?]

Are you busy?
Other than maintaining life support, piloting myself, and keeping all of my systems online and functioning? No, I am not busy.
And all that is what, 5% of your overall processing power?
I cannot say I did not preen when you acknowledged my capabilities. It was more like 15% of my overall processing power, but the compliment was noted.
What do you want?

The whole thing took 3.7 minutes. It was impersonal, efficient, and streamlined, just the way the corporates liked it. Oh, and the new construct was screaming the whole time.
Bharadwaj is sent a packet of video files from the Corporation Rim as part of her research for her documentary. When viewing one clip in particular, SecUnit's human friends learn something new about the lives of constructs.

Summary
I sent ART the edited file along with a snapshot of my recent haptic sensor logs, which mostly looked like [deleted] [deleted] [deleted].
ART took a moment to process that. Your difficulty with physical touch extends beyond merely touching or being touched by humans, it surmised.
I guess, yeah. I bristled at calling it a ‘difficulty’: it wasn't hard to touch things, I just didn't like doing it. But I had a system for dealing with that, so whatever, it wasn't an issue.

Summary
“ART,” I managed, voice pitched up just a little. “What are you doing?”
Part of the touch on my chest slid up to cup my jaw. It was— warm. Gentle? It was weird and unexpected and I scooted away until my lower back hit the couch’s armrest, which obviously did nothing. `My beautiful SecUnit,' ART said, and my breath hitched oddly. It’s the malware, Murderbot, it’s the fucking malware. Keep it together. 'You still haven’t realized what’s happening? You still don’t understand what I’m going to do to you?'

Summary
Humans were screaming, I was sprinting toward the problem, and the sky was unleashing a chill, torrential rain that made me nostalgic for getting hosed off in the security ready room.
It should have been the perfect day.
Well, not for the screaming people trapped in the collapsed building. Their day probably sucked. For me, it was exactly what I needed.
More than anything, I really needed there to be a problem, because if there wasn’t then I was the problem.
And there's only one kind of problem a rogue SecUnit can be.Bookmarked by Commaeleons

Summary
On impulse, Murderbot publishes some of its secret original fiction on a PSUMNT forum. This goes much better than risk assessment expected, and it makes some new friends, discovers things about itself, and forms a heated rivalry with an obnoxious user in the anonymous response thread who, despite vehement protests, comes to be known as the SecUnit Fucker.

Summary
The terms Barish-Estranza gives the lost colony are simple. Unconditional surrender, sign indenture paperwork for every adult and child, or they will eliminate all dissidents on record using a Combat SecUnit, and the killing will continue until they get their way.
The people of Esperia have no idea what that is. Barish-Estranza has technology that they have never seen. But they know they have to save the children. They pack the colony's children onto their one functioning ship, the Horizon, along with teachers and a barely adequate crew, and send them toward the wormhole that may lead back to the world that the Esperian colonists originally came from.
Barish-Estranza doesn't want to admit it, but they're unexpectedly missing their best threat.
And, onboard the Horizon, a child tells his teacher that there's a mysterious person in the machine closet…
