    Summary

Wille was about to apologize for being so gloomy. Simon smiled and pulled his hand closer to study it.
“Interesting,” he said with a coy twist of his lips.
    “What? You read palms too?”
Simon smirked in a way that said ‘absolutely not but I'm going to fake it and you’re going to let me’. “This right here? This is your love line.”
Wille knew almost nothing about palm reading but even he knew that was wrong.
“Yeah?” He played along. “And what does it tell you?”
Simon pretended to inspect it. “Hmm. Just as I suspected.”
    “What?” Wille asked, ridiculously amused.
Simon paused dramatically then shrugged. “Queer as fuck.”
Wille threw his head back and laughed.
“Can’t argue with science,” Simon said, clearly very pleased with himself.
“You can tell that from my palm?”
“100%. Plus, the way you've been looking at me since I got here is so not the way a straight guy would look at me.”
Try as he might, Wille couldn't keep the grin off his face.
Simon smiled coyly up at him and then down at his palm, rubbing it comfortingly with his thumb. When he looked back up his smile was gone and his expression was heated. “Can I kiss you now, Wille?”

    Summary

A message from Wilhelm, one that brings his heart rate back up: Everyone is fine. Call me first. DON’T go on the internet

    The call connects. “Wille?”

“Hi, sweetheart, I’m almost there. Just wait for me,” Wilhelm says.

    “Wait, I don’t… what happened?”

    There’s a moment of silence.

“There’s a news story,” Wilhelm says. Simon’s hand tightens on the phone. “They found out August took the video.” Fuck. How? It’s been ten years. The story didn’t die, because the story never dies, it lingers in the cultural consciousness and pops up like a beach ball whenever someone needs an object lesson to support their crusade. Their tape has been cited in tightening online privacy laws, in denying ISPs neutrality on delivering internet access, in debates on influencer families and the ethics of famous children.

Somehow, despite that, he didn't think the truth would get out.

This fic is in a shared universe and stands alone.
