Summary
In some ways it starts with swords in a forest, metal on metal and instincts acting up before anyone can realize what’s actually happening. In others, it starts with a tree opening up to nowhere, and people disappearing into mid-air, and the unshakable knowledge that even the loveliest things come to an end. But mostly, it starts with a realization that will never stop haunting Caspian the Tenth, king of Narnia: someone always has to leave, and someone always has to stay. And no matter how hard he tries, he’s always the one doing the staying.

Summary
After the Telmarine war, the Pevensies stay in Narnia to help rebuild—but the magic of the land has its own ideas.
The newly awakened trees take one look at Peter and promptly adopt him as their favorite former king, showering him with leafy crowns, overprotective rustling, and relentless affection.
Unfortunately for Peter’s dignity, the trees also develop a very specific rule:
whenever he feels even a flicker of sadness, they must fetch Caspian.
Immediately.
This leads to Caspian being dragged out of meetings, guided through hallways, and occasionally dropped directly in front of a very confused, very flustered Peter… much to everyone’s amusement.
While Peter struggles to understand his place in this new era, and Caspian tries to stop being magically kidnapped on a daily basis, the trees remain delighted with themselves.
After all—Narnia knows what its High King needs…

Summary
Caspian is King now, and Peter hates it.
Not the crown itself—Peter understands duty better than anyone. But he hates how easily Caspian can kiss him and walk away, how he never asks for help, never needs Peter the way Peter needs him.
After fighting so hard to be together, Peter finds himself alone again—standing right beside the person he loves, and still invisible, fading into nothing in the presence of duty.
So he does what any mature former High King would do: he throws a tantrum.
