    Rudo’s face burns. “Put me down!” he yells, feet dangling uselessly, kicking at nothing.

    Tamsy exhales. “Rudo,” he says, almost gently, like he’s soothing a whining child, “you’re going to hurt someone. That’s not our job.”

    Rudo hates that tone more than the rope. It crawls under his skin, makes him feel small and stupid and loud in the worst way. Like he’s the only one making a scene and embarrassing himself.

    “Oh, screw you,” Rudo spits. “How would you like it if I tied you up, huh?”

    Tamsy tilts his head, considering it far too seriously.

    “I guess,” he says mildly, “you’d have to figure out a way to do that first. Then we could find out.”

    BOOK TWO

    Soleil Prescott, token magicless student at Night Raven College in the magical world of Twisted Wonderland, where everything about it resembled the Disney fairytales from back home, thought that taking down a raging teenage boy who took a lot to the Queen of Hearts of Wonderland would be the most excitement she'd have in this life. She thought wrong.

    When Headmage Crowley approaches her about Spelldrive players mysteriously getting injured, she at first had waved it off as accidents but still agreed to investigate because... none of your business. However, what looked like careless students and accidents and coincidences began to look a lot more like strings that someone from the shadows was pulling. With the help of Ace, Deuce, Grim, Riddle, Cater and a new fresh face who reminds her too much of Scar from the Lion King, Soleil has to dig deep and find who's responsible before someone gets seriously hurt or worse – die.
