Or, the time travel fix it trope but merlin is the only one who doesn’t know about the past lifetime.

Merlin doesn't know why he is collecting these coins that just come from people or the universe but he is given his first one when he is told he has to protect the, pompous prat, prince Arthur. As the years go by he is getting an idea on he has them.
