Danny looks up at him, and when their eyes meet it’s like slow goddamn motion or something. The air grows thick and heavy and sounds are muted, and the smile that widens on Danny’s face makes Steve’s toes curl. When he gets to Danny’s side, his arm goes around Danny’s shoulders, and Danny’s arm comes around his waist, settles with his hand tucked in his back pocket, bumping their hips together, and Steve somehow can tell. They both know it. It’s all different this time.
