Ash continues repeating to himself, mostly, that he would never, ever hurt Eiji. Maybe to drive it into his mangled subconscious so he’d never dream about it again. Maybe it’s to reassure Eiji, just so that his arms continue to hold Ash. He’s pulled flush against his chest, so that their heartbeats are against each other. Eiji’s kissing the side of his head every now and often, and Ash is starting to get excited every time his head turns. He wishes he had it in him to turn his head at the same time, so that their lips might meet and Ash might feel those things called sparks for the first time in his life.

Eiji tries to shake his head, but the room lurches. "Didn't drink," he manages.
"Do you need to head out? You don't seem to be doing too well."
Eiji grimaces. He doesn't want to call Ash. Is he going to have to ask one of his coworkers to drive him home? That's embarrassing. But then he hears—
"Does anyone have the contact info for Okumura's husband?"
