Summary
“The question then becomes,” she says after a moment, as he returns to doing the dishes, stacking the soapy ones in the smaller sink. “Do you want to make a mess?” Steve pauses, before he shrugs again and Robin nods, like he’s made a great point.

Summary
"I also came to ask how you liked your surprise." Dustin furrowed his brow.
"Surprise?"
Nancy's grin grew and she nodded back to the gym. Eyes narrowed, Dustin ducked back in, weaving around tables to get back to their booth. He saw Lucas first, grinning like Christmas came early.
"Did you know he was coming?" he asked. Dustin frowned.
"Who?"
"Henderson!"
OR
Dustin didn't have his mom with him for his last middle school science fair, and he couldn't ever remember having a dad. He didn't have an older brother or sister like Jonathan or Nancy, but he did have a Steve.

Summary
Steve lifts his head, and Wayne sighs because the bruises on his cheek and jaw are already painting a picture of what might have happened.
“S—sorry,” he whispers, “I couldn’t drive like this.”
The past tense isn't a great sign. Wayne nods to the front door. “Well, why don't you come inside?”
Steve blinks, as if he’d been expecting a different reply. He glances between Wayne and the steps as if he’s afraid of giving the wrong answer. “It’s not a trick question, Harrington.”

Summary
Three shots ring out.
Steve hears them before he feels them; a warm, wet pain burning in his torso, intolerably excruciating.
There’s a bundle of squawks and screams, outbursts of panic and anger, and it’s only when Hopper falls forwards to take Steve up into a slightly rough, protective hold, does he realize that two of those shots have lodged themselves in his own flesh and bone. (Realizes that he’d moved, instinctively, to shield El, despite never having spoken to her, who’d the gun had been so precisely pointed at, aimed for.)
Steve Harrington watches his own blood pool and trickle over a series of hands pressed against him, small and large, soft and rugged, and for a moment, wants to stay like this. He can’t.
