It is the way in which Shu Yi says it; sometimes in a whisper, sometimes in a gasp, on his skin, to his heart. Usually as an answer itself, like it doesn't need any more.
Mostly, like a reverence, religiously, like he would share a secret, an ancient foreign language, however, spoken in familiar words, like they hold the whole universe.

Shu Yi rambled on in a whispering, but infuriated voice, taking a wary look around them. "Also, who poured a truth potion in my pumpkin juice, huh? That’s strictly forbidden, and now we're forced to hide in the astronomy tower until it expires, or else you could be expelled."
"I didn't know. I told you it wasn't on purpose." Shi De shouted indignantly in the same low tone.
Shu Yi shook his head, his index finger furiously blaming the Ravenclaw as he poked at his chest. "Not to me, Gao Shi De, you went too far this time. I perfectly know where you found that potion, and all the others from his office could have us banished from the school. You may have taken this one by mistake, but don't try to tell me your intentions were pure."

The little boy fumbled in his pockets, cryptically. "I made matching bracelets for everyone. Each pair has its own color, or pattern. I give you one, and you have to find who has the other. If you do it before midnight, it means you're destined to be together forever."
"Did you give one to Zhou Shu Yi, yet?" The child cocked his head to the side, wondering.
Shi De rose to his full height, placing a hand at his own level, before rolling up his sleeve to show him his own bracelet, and the wedding ring he wore. "This tall, long elegant legs, a smile to die for, irresistible mole right under his eye, most beautiful man you’ve ever seen? He has another bracelet like this, and the same ring on his finger."

Summary
Shu Yi couldn't believe this was real.
Under normal circumstances, this bastard would never have dared to say such words, or do such things. Even more so in front of everyone, in the middle of a business evening, even though no one seemed to realize what was happening, all busy with their drinks in hand, discussing the future of the company, convinced they were the owners of this world.
Shu Yi was supposed to be protected, powerful, feared.
It was hard to believe a photograph of him with a man in a gay bar, was an open door to be abused.
As if a single photograph gave everyone the right to his body, reducing him to just a piece of meat given to the dogs.

It feels like fate or destiny, or whatever fucking entity that controls this is laughing at his expense. Why else give him a soulmate after he’s had his heart crushed and almost died. Why now when he’s more of a mess than usual.
What can he possibly have to offer Carlos, whoever he might be?
