Summary
He had been in love with her for years and despite where they were now, he still was. They’d fought before, but not like this. Surely she’d forgive him eventually though. Forgive him for leaving, for defending Wheatley in an attempt to protect her. After all, they’d both planned to be squabbling with each other at 85. He couldn’t fathom anything else.

Summary
As an NCIS agent and a former foster child, G. Callen had always carried a heavy burden of untold stories, but recently, his past seemed to claw its way back with an intensity he just couldn't ignore. Some memories are forgotten for a reason. Nate couldn't have been more right. Still, he had needed to know. He couldn't regret that. Didn’t make it easy, though.

Summary
St. Joseph's Orphan Home in downtown Los Angeles was cold and uninviting. After two years, Callen no longer remembered what his name used to be or recalled a word of Romanian, Kalderash Romani or Russian either. The memories of Romania and his family were all long gone now, replaced by the life he had known at St. Joseph's, buried beneath the daily struggles of orphan life and the trauma of the separation from his family in the first place.

Rafael Barba is many things, the chief being, an asshole. He's brash, sarcastic, witty, and isn't afraid to voice his opinion. He's a fighter. A survivor. Hate him or love him, one thing's for sure. Summary
“We didn't exactly part as friends,” Olivia pointed out dryly.
“No, I guess you didn’t. But you used to be. When Mr. Barba left the DA’s office, you said it felt like losing the closest friend you’d ever had.”
“That was… then. Before.”
“The Wheatley trial.”
“Yes.”
“The one that Mr. Barba didn’t win, as I recall.”
“Not for the lack of trying.”
“Are you certain?”
That took her off guard, like a sudden gut-punch. For a long moment all she could do was stare, her mind aswirl in a blizzard of old hurts, unspoken doubts.
“It doesn’t matter why he did it,” she heard herself saying as if from somewhere far away. “It doesn’t matter what he did. I asked him not to defend Wheatley.”
It was like a mantra, she suddenly realized, one she had been spinning for four years. It used to help. It used to ground her.
It used to remind her why.Bookmarked by CaseyBarson12
