John Watson did not think that he would fall for Sherlock Holmes while standing in the middle of a snow-dusted street at four in the afternoon.
It wasn’t an arrow through the heart, though. He’d always sort of expected falling in love to feel that way: instantaneous, sharp, overwhelming. The expected sweeping off the feet, head over heels, whisked away into a whirlwind romance.
He had felt his stomach flutter and the world seemed to settle within him. Not struck off balance but feeling with a slow certainty that he would quite like to wrap his arms around Sherlock, press his lips to his and never move from that spot again.
