Perturabo was very, very sick of being in this meeting. It was important to have meetings, he supposed, but that didn’t mean he had to like it. The air was thick with his brothers’ scents and it was giving him a headache. He just wanted to go back to his ship and take his suppressants and sleep until they kicked in and he stopped feeling so awful.

It was not uncommon for Magnus to simply decide he was going to join Perturabo on a compliance without saying anything. It was even more common for Magnus to show up for seemingly no reason other than to spend time with Perturabo.
Unfortunately, it was also about as likely for Magnus to show up with the intent of “trying something” with Perturabo’s help.
Perturabo was getting the distinct impression that this was one of those times.
(Or, Magnus tries to move forward with an experiment without controlling all the variables)
