“Boga?” Quinlan whispered, already moving to sit up and draw the blankets away. “What’s going on?”
Boga didn’t answer, obviously, just drew back and swung her neck in the direction of the corner of the room, where Obi-Wan was sitting in a corner, rocking back and forth.
“Shit,” Quinlan said, as quietly as he could manage in the moment. Another bad night, then.

Obi-Wan quickly grew frustrated with his mistakes and threw the wood across the room, where it clattered into the wall with great commotion. Instantly, he froze and hunched in on himself.
“Obi-Wan?” Qui-Gon asked, setting down the small wooden bird he had been attempting to carve. “Are you alright?”
“I’m sorry, Master,” Obi-Wan breathed into his knees. “I’m sorry, I won’t do it again, I’m sorry, I just got — got so — I’m sorry.”
[or: after Melida/Daan, Obi-Wan can't stay still. Qui-Gon introduces him to a new hobby as an outlet to help him focus.]

Summary
“Obi-Wan, is there anything else I or any of the other Healers can do for you?”
He did not say none of your scans and tests revealed the real problem: that Mandalore was the greatest Trial I could imagine. That it feels like I tore my heart in two and only returned with half. That walking the halls of the Temple does not feel like home in the same way it once did. That I feel like a stranger now amongst friends.
Instead, he looked her right in the eyes. “No thank you, Master Vokara Che.”
[Or: the day after returning back to the Temple from a year-long mission on Mandalore, Obi-Wan works through what home means now.]

Summary
Obi-Wan looked back down at Boga. He stretched out his hand a bit, and this time Boga was the one who leaned forward into his touch. He began scratching dutifully, clearly understanding the implicit instruction, and immediately the low rumbling began again.
A slow, small smile crept across his face.
“G-good girl, Boga,” Obi-Wan whispered, so softly that it could barely be heard.

“Hey,” Anakin said softly, kneeling down. “Are you alright, Master?”
Obi-Wan raised his head and revealed his pale, blotchy face and red-rimmed eyes. “I – I can’t – I can’t do it again, I can’t–”
At his side, Boga let out a soft trill and raised her head to swipe her tongue down the side of Obi-Wan’s face.

The creature comes to a screeching halt right in front of them – right in front of Obi-Wan, whose face seems to crumple a bit.
“Boga,” he chokes out, and then his hands are buried in its crests and his face is tucked into the side of its neck. The creature trills again, a lower-pitched cry of mourning, and cuddles closer to the man who is clutching it like it is his lifeline.

“So why am I still here?” Obi-Wan asked.
“You have been captured,” Thrawn pointed out.
“But I am not being treated like a prisoner,” Obi-Wan responded. He had operated too many Star Destroyers to not know the protocol. There was a medical ward in the brig for a reason. He could have easily been treated there.
“No, you are not."
“So what am I?”
“An unexpected relic of a bygone age,” said Thrawn. “And I am somewhat of a collector.”

Summary
Obi-Wan’s first memory was not his own. Rather, it was a vision steeped in darkness and flashes of red and choking heat and you were my brother and the harsh crash of lightsabers striking one another. He woke up sobbing in the arms of the crèchemaster, Master Kitaddik, who was hushing him and gently stroking the top of his head with her furry hands. Obi-Wan hid his face in the soft folds of her tunic and, still crying, fell back asleep.
The first time Obi-Wan collapsed due to a vision was not long after that.
[Or: in all the various iterations of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life, the Force spoke to him. But in this one, it never stopped.]

Summary
It wasn’t anything special. That was what really bothered Anakin. Obi-Wan had survived so much in his life; he deserved to go out swinging against some mighty foe, saving the galaxy in the process.
So to think that it might be a random speeder that ended up killing him? That was unthinkable. But here he was, lying on a bed in the Halls of Healing. Master Vokara Che said he was in a coma and might not wake up. But Anakin knew better. Obi-Wan would wake up soon. He just had to be patient.
