Summary
Last Christmas, Bruce Wayne tried to confess his love for reporter Clark Kent, but Clark Kent rejected him, leaving Bruce with bitter feelings for the season.
This year, Clark Kent is alone for Christmas for the first time in his life. He doesn't know what to do with himself, so he takes up a shift for monitor duty at the Watchtower, but it's not until he accidently walks in on Batman with his cowl off does he know who he's spending the next eight hours with. Now's he's stuck with the guy he rejected on Christmas Eve with a world to watch over.

Summary
OFFICE AU - Clark Kent, due to mysterious circumstances, ends up not getting the job at the Daily Planet and because he's a little desperate and running out of money quickly, he applies for a job at Wayne Enterprises in Gotham as an assistant. Turns out the job was to be Bruce Wayne's personal assistant. Batman and Superman end up debuting in Gotham on the same night and people just assume they work together, Batman the brain and Superman’s the muscle. Superman is willing to be partners, Batman is on the fence.
“Dear Clark Kent, we regret to inform you that we’ve decided to go with another candidate and wish you the best of luck with future opportunities…” Clark trailed off, reading from an email that the Daily Planet had just sent him. “That’s the seventh one this month,” Clark sighed, “I thought this one would be it.”

Bruce wondered whether he should look over at the other side of the bed. Maybe- just maybe… No, he shouldn’t look yet, Bruce didn’t think he could handle it. He rolled into a sitting position, tangled sheets pooling around his waist. Taking a deep breath, Bruce glanced over his shoulder to the other side of his bed.
Empty again.
He sighed. He should have known better, especially by now. Reaching up towards the ceiling, Bruce waited to hear the satisfying crack in his back. It never came. Another disappointment on top of an already disappointing morning.

Bruce’s eyes focused on the first thing they saw, which was another pair of eyes, mere inches from his face. Dark eyelashes framed the eyes, smile lines dotted the corners. The irises were a deep shade of bright blue, something Bruce would never see on Earth.
“Kal?” Bruce whispered, his voice hoarse.

“Yep,” Max deadpans, and before Mike can fully process what’s happening, she’s lifting him out of her bag and dropping him into Will’s hands. “Will, meet Mike the dog. Mike the dog, stop wagging your tail. It’s embarrassing for you.”
While on a quest with Max, Mike accidentally gets turned into a dog. It's up to Will to change him back.

Then he was spotted, and the boy stopped in his tracks; with skillful movements, he quickly slung the rifle off his shoulder and pointed it at Mike’s chest. Mike raised his hands while trying to keep most of his weight on his left leg.
“Whoa. Hey,” Mike said, his eyes wide as he stared at the tip of the rifle. “Just hold on. I’m not—I’m not going to hurt you.”

Max burst out laughing, “and you're the Paladin? Oh my God Mike-,”
“The hell is so funny?” Mike snapped.
“You don't even?” Max scoffed. This is why Mike didn't like talking to Max. She spoke as if she knew some joke that flew right over Mike's head, and Mike had a feeling he was the joke.
“Mike. I don't know how to tell you this so I'm just gonna say it,” Max started, “The Paladin is in love with The Sorcerer.”
Mike groaned. They stayed silent for a moment. Max waiting for a reply and Mike cringing at the revelation that maybe this ran deeper than he thought. Maybe the critics weren't wrong. Maybe Heather, along with the rest of his fans, hadn't been crazy after all and hadn't completely misunderstood the text he'd spent seven years writing.
“Why does everyone keep saying that?” He finally grumbled.
Or, In 1996, Mike releases a book inspired by the party and their adventures. A small but loud fandom forms around shipping The Paladin and The Sorcerer. But, that was all wrong. Mike had never been in love with Will, had he?

"For one," Mike sighs, propping onto one elbow to look at Will properly, "Holly definitely has a crush on you."
Will squints, just barely, lips curling up in amusement. It takes Mike an excruciatingly long time to detect what exactly Will thinks of this matter, but what comes out is soft, mellow, and not particularly to Mike’s enjoyment: "That's kind of cute."
“It is not,” Mike hisses, and Will shoots him a grin. “She always talks about you, always giggles whenever you talk to her, and because she's like, incredibly adorable, and you’re so good with kids, I'm going to be trailing behind you guys like an absolute loser because she totally hogs you.”
"Wait," Will blurts, brows drawing close. "Are you jealous?"
Mike Wheeler is many things, but he is never jealous.
