There is a man on the street, staring up at Gustave’s apartment.
He’s dressed well — a sharp suit cracked with gold, wavy dark hair combed back and shot through with white. His cold blue eyes are rimmed red as if he’s been crying for a while. He feels… important somehow, like a missing piece to a puzzle Gustave has yet to uncover.
Or: Gustave navigates resurrection in the wake of Maelle taking over the canvas, and meets a not-so-stranger he cannot place in his memory.

In they end, despite all the hurt and pain, they find a compromise.
Maelle will leave but the canvas will remain.
It's the end to many things, but the beginning of many others. Verso has to learn how to navigate his new mortal life. Gustave has to learn how to come with terms with coming back from the dead. It's by no means easy, two strangers that have their lives intertwined in the strangest of ways. But they try and that is all they can do.
It's a story of pain and peace, of hatred and love, of beginnings and ends.
