  Summary

  In which Izuku Midoriya loses all hope.

  Left on a rooftop, aspirations shattered, alone with only the thoughts in his mind to keep him company.

  Izuku barely noticed when his feet guided him to the ledge, he didn’t look down, instead focused on the sky above, clouds drifting, distant and high up. He wanted to be far away. He couldn’t be a hero so what was the point, he doubted his mother would even notice. It was so peaceful up here. The wind gently tugged at the aldera uniform, almost enticing.

  How could he be a hero if he couldn’t even save himself? Maybe they were right after all.

  Deku.

  He was so lost in his head he didn’t notice the access door to the rooftop opening. Wary footsteps treading carefully, before a voice cut through, southern twang laced with gentle
