“I’m happy,” George whispers, the words slipping past his lips without permission.
“Huh?” Dream says. “What’s that, baby?”
Sapnap’s watching them. His eyes dart away when they meet George’s and he ducks under the water.
“I said, ‘’m happy’,” George mumbles, feeling slightly embarrassed at the honesty. He feels the need to layer over it with a joke but he can’t think of one.
“Yeah?” Dream says with an audible smile. And George only tucks his cheek further into Dream and reaches over to fiddle with his boyfriend's chain.
[Or, Dream and George’s love is literally written in the stars; scattered amongst aeons and time; mapped out by the dust of space that led them both together. They're inevitable.]

George forces a laugh, trying not to think too hard about before as he flattens his palm to Dream’s chest, feeling his heartbeat speed up beneath his hand. “Did you think I was using a green screen and showing you some random room before?”
“That would have been kinda epic.” Dream looks down at him, and George can see the way his eyes slightly shine beneath the bright LED lights.

Summary
“What’s wrong?” George asks, eyebrows drawn together. He puts a hand on Dream’s face, cold and grounding, and Dream doesn’t have the self-restraint to stop himself from leaning into the touch.
“Feel bad,” Dream manages. He blinks again, horrified to find tears gathering at his waterline. “Too hot.”
“Yeah,” George agrees, eyes deep with concern. He brushes a thumb over Dream’s cheek, and the tears spill down his face like an egg yolk escaping from its shell. Dream’s breath hitches, chest trembling with emotion and fatigue and a million other things, unable to bear the anxiety in George’s face. Without even meaning to, he crumbles forward, collapsing straight into George’s lap.
Suffering from heat exhaustion, Dream confesses to George.

“Oh? You're a busy man?” Dream wondered. “What you got going on?”
“Wouldn't you like to know.”
Dream did. He was curious what prevented George from talking to him for a little longer. He just couldn't show that. So he put on the thickest sarcastic tone he could muster. “Yeah, I'm so invested in your life, George.”
“Bet you are,” George said blankly. “I'm just eating right now before I go out and meet friends. We're going bowling.”
Against Dream's better judgment there was a tinge of jealousy in his chest. And it made little sense, because George wasn't his friend. But their conversation would be cut short because George had actual friends to meet and most likely, Dream wouldn't get to speak to him another time. He couldn't pick George once more and pretend it wasn't on purpose without every sane person seeing right through the lie.
Gosh, what an idiot he was. He barely even knew the guy, and here he was, bitterly jealous of friends whose names he didn't even know.
OR
Dream hosts a Space and lets a fan speak who turns out to be kind of fun to talk to, and Dream has to fight every instinct in his body so he won't get too attached.

Valentine’s day came three months before June’s first birthday. She had started crawling more aggressively, lately, and had taken to wobbling around on two feet, much to both Dream and George’s distress. There was so much more danger, it seemed, once you were upright. Like, cabinet knobs to hit your head on. George had crab walked around the kitchen – clumsy and with just as many complaints as giggles from them both – so that he was closer to June’s height and Dream had followed him around wrapping everything he thought she could potentially hit her head on in bubble wrap and duct tape.
