He swallowed hard, trembling but unable to tear his gaze away from the being before him. Fear still rooted him in place, but curiosity—foolish, human curiosity—kept his eyes fixed on the way the moonlight caught the monster’s fur, the faint curl of his antennae, the glint of sharp teeth in the dark.
It should have been pure terror. And yet… it wasn’t.

Summary
Tenna has lost everything: his studio, his home, his lightners, and nearly his life. Despite it all, Tenna remembers being repaired, and he is certain beyond any doubt that Spamton is the one that saved him. But why would he leave, just to come back now?
Meanwhile, Spamton is changing. Again. An inky blackness is tearing him to pieces and leaving him fully undone. He wants to find a way to make things right with Tenna, but somewhere, in the back of his mind, a phone is still ringing.
In order for them to move forward, it seems like they are both going to have to look back.

Weeks before Kris and Susie would begin their chalk-retrieval quest, the laptop is returned to the Dreemurr household.
Mr. Ant Tenna’s unexpected comeback sets all of Cyber City abuzz with excitement—with the exception of one particularly resentful puppet. Spamton G. Spamton desperately craves revenge against his old partner, but to his horror, it seems that Tenna too is hungry to settle old scores.

Tenna leaned towards Spamton, pushing his head up into his hand.
He was loopy. He had lost it.
Or maybe, with his senses warped, with the way he leaned into his touch, the way he was laughing so comfortably, the way he was calling her name… maybe he’d mistaken Spamton for Susie herself.

The Lightners, having been swept into battle, send out Spamton to find Tenna instead. Only, Spamton still wants nothing to do with him after their first reencounter, and Tenna, with his senses heavily damaged, recognizes Spamton as someone he's not—Susie. Spamton decides to run with it. Bad things happen from there.
