    Summary

The Smoke Sea is on the world map, probably, in a small corner somewhere, maybe, in the oceanic blue, perhaps, where the very edge of East meets West. Split by islands and starlit, it holds a dark sky and darker secrets in the depths below. Terrible things happen, the fish economy is on shaky legs, and someone probably dies.

If anything, Gura just wants to fish. The creature under the water, watching her, thinks this is a mighty fine idea.

    - - -

Pride burst in her chest as the shape moved under its coat, though it dimmed when it slipped off its chair with a loud thump onto the deck. But still! She’d gotten them back home, onto the ship, closer to the ocean and herself. It wasn’t good to spend so much time on land.

That surely wasn’t healthy at all.

    Summary

Wreathed in a trail of burning gas and fluorescent light, a comet hangs, colossal and ethereal, like a guillotine over the people of the world. Miko lifts the can of warm coffee to her lips once more, then grimaces.

    “This tastes awful.”

A story about the apocalypse, weird bucket lists, promises made, wishes fulfilled, and somewhere in the middle of it all, love.

    Summary

"Indeed, in a world where they were fundamentally set apart both by a prophecy and by time, there were very few people who could claim they could understand Cipher. Anaxa, as inscrutable and occasionally (read: often) insufferable as he is, is one of those people."

Or, an exploration of the latter half of the 33550337th Eternal Recurrence. In a world where Aglaea and Castorice die centuries before the conclusion of the Flame-Chase Journey, before even the births of Anaxa, Mydei, and Hyacine, the Chrysos Heirs that carry out the final sacrifices of Amphoreus are few and far in between. They form special bonds unique to the events of this Eternal Recurrence --- though in some ways, some things never change.

    Summary

Then, when he had finally gathered the courage to get closer, the sounds of laughter had slowed him again. He quietly watched through a small hole in the wall separating him and the outside area as his friends set the table and bantered loudly with each other. Their happiness radiated off of them in waves, a balm on the persistent gloominess of their situation.

Phainon couldn’t bring himself to ruin it.

After the trauma of Irontomb, Phainon is under the impression that the other Chrysos Heirs need to stay away from him. After all, who would want to be near someone who had killed them in thirty-three million lifetimes?

    Summary

“My humble apologies, Imperator,” Hysilens says, her voice rasping unpleasantly—still so unaccustomed to the human tongue. She clears her throat, pressing a hand to her chest. “To see that fish in the blackness where the sun’s rays dare not shine… it is as a star; radiant in the depths of the sea. Not unlike your blazing light, which guided me to shore.”

Cerydra takes a long sip of her glass, only to fall silent. Golden ichor drips from the corner of her mouth, and Hysilens resists the urge to reach out, and…

“Were you truly so allured?” Cerydra murmurs, shattering the silent moment almost off-handedly—which is strange—no action of the Imperator's is impromptu in the slightest. She is an angler, a chessmaster. She is patient, composed, and she does not err lightly.

But Cerydra blinks as she looks to Hysilens, as if she too is struck with momentary surprise at her own tongue. Her breath is sweet, and warm against her siren’s scales. And Hysilens nods.

“Yes,” she whispers, for none but her light to hear. “I was.”

    "Twist the knife, Helektra."
