It's almost as gloomy here as it was back where he'd been. Almost, but for the man sitting on the steps, a blaze of light in the dark, the tails of his white shirt fluttering in the breeze, so still that he could be an apparition or a statue. Most of his face is covered by an opera mask, white paint and pink rouge and sharp brows, red lining around the eye holes.
The man's generous mouth curves under the mask. "You're not who I was expecting."
That's so far from the reaction Yibo might have imagined that he's not sure what to do with himself. He's misty, almost entirely see-through. There should at least be some screaming, surely.
Or, some things are so inevitable not even death can stop them.

“Gah!” he says.
“Gah!” Mo Xuanyu says right back.
