4 years of fighting with the unknown. Will was tired, lost, and feeling lonely. Moving back to Hawkins was hard. Adjusting back to a life of normalcy was hard. Having the former chief of police live with your family was hard. Moving into the Harrington household until they have a place to live was hard. But, realizing you have feelings for that cute, slightly older boy in the Hellfire club was the hardest part.
Enter Gareth. The emotional whiplash of losing your best friend only to hear he’s alive and well, living at Steve Harrington’s house is enough to confuse him. It felt so freeing to be able to look at Mike and just see his best friend. To be able to touch him and comfort him without wishing it meant more than it did. To be able to just laugh with him again. To be able to say he was happy for him and El without it being a lie. To be able to admit, if only to himself, that the way Mike treated him the last couple years wasn’t okay. He no longer felt the need to make excuses for his behavior.
Now, though, Will has a Gareth-shaped problem in his life with no idea how to go about making a move or even how to find out if making a move would get him punched or not.

Gareth knows he’s right. He should just talk to Will. Get to know him. Be his friend.
But, it’s hard. Every time he sees him, he can feel his stomach flip and his face get hot. He just knows that if he even attempted talking to him, he’d say something so stupid he’d have to move states, maybe even out of the country.
He’s never been very smooth. Pretty boys like Will just made it worse.
