Summary: He supposes it’s because Vox is just that pathetic. He’s lost it all: the company that bears his own name, the power, the ego. Not his partners, though of course that might change the moment either Velvette or Valentino realize what’s happening right beneath their noses. And as much as Alastor hates the idea of anyone associating him with something as vile as sex, he can’t deny the thrill in the idea of somebody catching them in the act as he graciously allows Vox to rut against him like an animal in heat. You can rinse the blood away, but more will rise up before you can secure a bandage. And right now, Alastor needs a bandage.

Summary
Alastor lets Vincent catch his breath, as the two stare down at the bloody, mangled body.
“Well,” Alastor says, “the important thing is that you did not overreact.”
And then Vincent turns to look up at Alastor, still sunken on his knees and with spatters of blood like tiny rubies across porcelain white skin.
He is beautiful. He is divine.
“Al-a-stor,” Vincent makes out, as if it’s the first word he has ever spoken. The broken syllables spoken in a whisper— so afraid to shatter this moment between them.
Alastor has made a living off talking, and impressed the masses with his expansive vocabulary and razor-sharp wit, but here, in this moment, with the moonlight breaking into streaks through the tree tops, bathing him in iridescent light, Vincent looks up at Alastor like a disciple to a god— and Alastor is speechless.
