    Summary

    A blind man and a mute man meet in a church. Somehow, they make the friendship work.

    Jason's ultimatum ends in the way he least expected it: with a batarang to the neck courtesy of Batman, and his murderer laughing as he bled out. Even though he survived, the damage was done. Mute, he decided to take his leave and wound up in Hell's Kitchen, New York.

    Enter Matt Murdock; blind lawyer by day and the vigilante known as Daredevil by night. Some would say his desire to help others would be what would get him killed one day, and his track record did back up that sentiment. However, that doesn't stop him from befriending a broken but kindred spirit.

    Wally West has been the Flash for only a few months after his uncle sacrifices himself to save the world. Barry had been a hero. Wally's just trying to get by. After a long day, Wally goes for a standard run that leads him stumbling across a badly beaten Robin. He saves him. He has no idea yet, but this changes everything.

    Snippet:
    "No-" Wally's voice is rough with lingering dredges of sleep. It's hard to imagine less than an hour ago, he had been counting sheep in his borrowed bed. He clears his throat and tries again, pleading urgently with the nurse, "I'm alright. Please focus on the boy."

    'Boy.' Jason is only fifteen, Wally's pretty sure. Tiny. Powerless. He should call Batman and demand answers. Why is Robin in Ethiopia and not Gotham? Where were you? He doesn't remember Barry questioning Batman's authority often. But Barry would've never let Kid Flash be in another country alone with no teammates and no mentor.

    Jason Todd is seriously injured during patrol one night, and is forced to stay at the manor to recuperate until his injuries are healed. To pass the time, he makes a list of things he never got to do before he died.
    Except there's one small problem: most of them involve Bruce, and Jason doesn't really think Bruce cares all that much about him anymore.

    This is a story about how wrong he is, but I made it sad anyway.

    "I'm dying very soon," Ace said with resignation. A resignation that tore at him. He couldn't tell how old she was, but she was young. Younger than Jason, most likely. No more than twelve. He imagined his Jaylad in the same position. No child should be so prepared to die.

    "No," Batman stated firmly. The chance was slim, but if it was an ordinary aneurysm and she got help in time… She would not die on his watch, "not if I have anything to say about it."

    He smiled softly internally as the young girl's eyes widened in surprise.

    "What?"

    "Do you trust me?" he asked.

    A ghost of a smile crossed her face. "I guess so. You haven't lied to me yet."

    Ace doesn’t die in Bruce’s arms and he takes her home instead. How does that change things?
