    Summary

“That’s right. You don’t know how pretty you are, but that’s okay. Your thoughts don’t matter. All that matters is I think you’re stunning, all slumped in your chair, your mind in my hand.”

Virgil wasn’t sure if he was pretty. But that didn’t matter. All that mattered was that Master thought he was pretty. Virgil’s thoughts didn’t matter. Only Master’s did. That’s why he was there. To think for Virgil.

“Yes, so vulnerable, so perfect. My mindless little spiderling.” He pressed a gentle kiss to Virgil’s temple. “I think I’ll keep you like this. My tranced out little spiderling, stumbling around not knowing a single thing, so helpless without his master. Yes, I will finally make you perfect, little spider, just you wait.”

    Summary

Janus is a very good thief, but all his skills won't save him when he gets bad information that leads him straight into the clutches of two dragons. They might not want to eat him, but the way that they seem to want to keep him is terrifying. Compelling. Irresistible.

(or: you know that trope where the villain tries to seduce the hero with a life of ease and luxury, and the hero has to say no for the story to progress? this is my answer to the question of "... but what if they said yes?")

    Summary

Virgil Sanders died alone on a hill at the edge of town by his own hand near the end of his senior year of high school. Patton had never known him; he was also the last person to see him alive.

Despite having barely ever talked to Virgil, Patton never could get over the boy’s death and he could never get rid of the sketchbook Virgil had pressed into his hands before running off that day. It didn’t matter that the number of drawings of Patton himself was… a bit creepy given the context that they hadn’t really known each other. The sketchbook was always somehow a comfort to him.

When Patton is mortally injured, he finds himself reaching for that comfort and suddenly ends up in his old high school with a dead boy standing front of him. Now, it’s a race against the clock to survive a danger Patton had no memories of being in last time with a boy who knew more about him than he really should. If they’re fast enough, maybe this time, no one has to die.

    Summary

The ex-assassin, Virgil, loves his found family and wants them to be safe. His methods are… unconventional, but done out of love.

This is my 100,000 word celebration for the Birds of Different Feathers series. I wrote 9 drabbles (100 words each) and 1 double drabble (200 words) to end it up.

The Birds of Different Feathers series consists of two major stories: Little Kestrel and Kill Dear. Both are stand alone, if connected and these drabbles happen between Little Kestrel and Kill Dear.

    Summary

Roman of the Northern Tribes, 3rd in line for a seat at the table and decorated war general in the Mocnejsi Kingdom’s army stumbles upon a traveling group whose carriage has a painted over emblem of the enemy kingdom on its side. In exchange for the lives and freedom of his other party members, Logan strikes a blood bonded deal with the general to deliver the crowned prince of Prijaznia into his custody.

Logan becomes his prisoner and with an ancient secret code book belonging to the prince, he guides Roman and his troupes through dangerous magical locations, perilous tasks, and puzzling riddles. Logan knows, of course, that he signed his own death warrant when he struck such a deal, whether or not they ever make it to the destination at the end of his book, but he is determined to go down kicking, screaming and spitting in Roman’s face all the way to the guillotine. He’s a dead man, but he’ll achieve as much as he can before Roman inevitably kills him.

Because here’s the trick; Logan’s the prince.
