Frustratingly, her lower body hungered for more. How selfish, she felt, wanting to ask more of her frayed sibling, getting a taste of care and wanting to consume all of the one that would give it. Their soft hand caressing her body, their arm cradling her while the other cared for her. Was it truly unnatural? She’d seen the mortal bugs crave eternity, lonely bugs crave companionship, hungry bugs crave food, wouldn’t a tortured bug crave tender love? Wouldn’t a hollow cocoon crave to be filled, with the proof her life could mean something, could carry something greater than her?

Herrah made a bargain with the Pale King. She agreed to an eternal dead sleep for him, for his plan; but coming out of a friendship empty-handed was not in her nature.
Of course, the King remain sly as a snake, the tongue of the worm always slithered against everyone else's best interests, so the completion of his own end of the bargain would still, as always, disadvantage anyone but him.

Summary
Lace felt the threads of her throat knot up, but no words, no witty comeback or joke could be thought up. Maybe that’s what Phantom felt? They’d always worried for her, strangely. Maybe they felt anything they’d say would be futile; maybe hurtful. Phantom always seemed stronger than Lace. Their mother would immediately pick the white plush back up and replace snapped threads, snapping and removing any that were so much as frayed. She grew afraid of any damage. Phantom never seemed to worry about predicaments that would lead to much worse than damage. But did they know of the fate the youngest faces? Were they subject to such treatment once?
