He didn't feel present in his body at all. Shane was thoroughly numb. Only after a tense fifteen minutes had passed did he notice he was strangely driving towards his cottage and not the house he and Ilya shared closer to the arena. It was a quiet revelation. Shane didn't think too hard about any of the decisions his body seemed to be making. He trusted his omega to find a safe place to hide. All he focused on was keeping the car from crashing into the median. He needed to be safe.

"No, my mate." It took all the willpower Ilya had to continue being respectful towards his coach. Every second he spent pacing in Wiebe's office was another moment Shane was spending alone. Alone and in distress. Ilya's alpha couldn't stop whining in his head aching to find the omega. He yearned to comfort and alleviate the pain and panic. Ilya wished for the foresight to have followed Shane from the second he walked away. Talking to the rookies about some bullshit video game meant nothing compared to the safety of his mate. It meant nothing compared to taking down a predator.
