He’s practically resigned to his fate now. Well—he’s not actively fighting it anymore, which he personally feels is deserving of a round of applause, or maybe a new knife that he can better fit under this ridiculous outfit he’s wearing.
“Not if you play along,” Quinlan replies out of the corner of his mouth.
Fox does not glare at him outright because he is at least trying to do his job here. Even if his job currently involves playing arm candy to Quinlan Vos as they schmooze with a bunch of obscenely wealthy people that are morally questionable at best.
or: Fox and Quinlan go undercover. It goes about as well as can be expected.

“Just call me Quinlan. I think getting me out of this horrible place gives you that right.”
Echo's face does something complicated before he manages to tamp down on his control. “Haven't managed that yet, sir,” he replies evenly.
“Does that mean you’ll call me Quinlan once you have?” Quinlan asks, aiming for cheeky and not quite managing it.
“I’ll consider it, if that is your wish,” Echo responds in a tone that means absolutely kriffing not, never in a million years. Oh, Quinlan is going to have fun with him if they can manage to get out of here alive.

Summary
The Bad Batch protects their own. It’s their most sacred promise to each other, come hell or high water. When a reg named Echo joins Crosshair’s squad, Crosshair makes that promise again.
However, in the stark halls of Kamino, Crosshair discovers that Echo’s decision to join the Bad Batch is only the beginning. On Kamino, Crosshair and his brothers are helpless to watch as Echo’s augmentations thrust him into the sights of the Kaminoan scientists. The Bad Batch promised to protect Echo, but the promises of clones are fragile things.
As Echo struggles to heal in the midst of a war and the Batch’s loyalties are tested, darkness creeps ever-closer, irresistible and unrelenting. The war is nearing its end, and none of them will escape unscathed.

Summary
When he's upset, though, he prefers to be alone. That comes from pre-everything Crosshair; he always had a tendency to brood. Echo would hazard a guess that what keeps him from seeking anybody out nowadays is guilt, though, when before it was namely pride. Unfortunately, due to his status as a prisoner on the run and a brother plagued by barely disguised self-hatred, none of them feel yet that he's quite out of the flight risk zone. If they find him upset, they stay with him.
Echo can give him silence though. After all, Crosshair's not the only one who sought out the stars tonight.

Something about this metal contraption he’s in, something about the smooth walls closing in around him, strangling him (he’s a sniper, open air is his forte) sends him back to Skako Minor. To that horrible capsule they found Echo in.
