   Summary

   This was not mercy. This was not kindness or care or love. Before he met his palisman he wouldn’t have been able to tell, would have complied without a thought. But Flapjack had shown them happiness. For some ungodly reason, he had been deemed worthy of this bird’s companionship without being useful in return. Before meeting him, their life had been dull. He couldn’t go back to what it was like before. He couldn’t. Hunter spoke before they even realized what they were saying.
