Jesus. He needs to cut this out. His basketball uniform is just loose enough that he doesn’t have to worry about any surprises down under, but the paranoia lingers. When he looks into himself, he really can’t understand why Mike has stuck out to him. Perhaps it's his chunky, black shoes, or the light application of mascara on his eyelashes.
Does Mike wear mascara? Patrick has only seen a few girls wear it, usually the goths who hide out in the janitorial closet or skip class to watch concerts. His mom used to wear it all the time, pulling at her lashes and skin, applying layer after layer of purple-tinted foundation and bright pink eyeshadow. (It never covered the bruise on her cheek, or hid her swollen eyelid.) But Mike is a guy, and guys do not wear anything like that, so he must just have very naturally long lashes.
Why is he spending so long debating if Mike wears makeup?
OR: Star basketball player Patrick Mckinney crushing on loser Mike Wheeler- while also looking back on his relationship with his parents, and his queerness. Yup!
