Batman watched as Edward brought the glass he had poured for himself to his lips, indulging in the bready drink with a soft sigh. Mismatched eyes met Bats’ own, and for once, the dark knight felt as though he was the one being studied. “Well,” Edward started again after he set his drink down carefully, “You must have found the answer, Batman. Tell me, what am I?”
He sighed. "The answer is loneliness. You’re lonely, Edward.”

Michael had a bad habit of picking the secret third option of the well-known choice of fight or flight. He froze. He froze when a splash of blood and brain matter splattered itself on his face a moment after the springlocks came down on his baby brother. He froze when Elizabeth spoke to him sweetly about what the scooper could do, and that had not changed as the menacing machine made its way into his gut. He froze when he was a teenager whose father came home in a drunken rage, hands curled into fists that found their way onto him, breaking his nose for the first time with a sickening crack. One which would ring in his ears for years to come.
Or, Michael get his shit rocked by William in Fazbear Frights one night and it makes him think about his life.
