Obviously, her voice didn't sound exactly the same as it had when she was twelve. But there were signatures, fingerprints in people's speech. The way they pronounced their r's, rising or falling intonation, how quickly they spoke and how often they stopped to breathe. Light had learned how to recognise and pick apart accent and tone and timbre and small vocal quirks the same way that someone sighted would pick up on the details of a person's face.
