Since the very day he'd been freed from his coffin in Nibelheim, Tifa had been a persistent friend. She was cautious in her approach, unlike Yuffie who had slung vampire jokes at him from day one and grated his nerves with her guffaws and jests. Tifa attempted to get to know Vincent, and despite his silence, she continued to try. She made sure that he was doing well after battles, offered to trade materia with him, confirmed that he had enough to eat or drink. Tifa was mothering, but not in a suffocating sort of way. She genuinely cared for her teammates and made a point to know at least something about everyone. It was hard not to be fond of the kind-hearted woman in some way, and those feelings only seemed to grow over the years.
