Summary
The chill of mortality was not unfamiliar to Harry Potter. Death had haunted him before birth, a prophecy tearing his grasp of normalcy from his hands. It had marked him for terrible greatness, for always being the hero. Time and time again, facing a monster of epic proportions. Only to be left on the outskirts of society, cast away, over and over. Harry was near his wit's end of being used for the greater good.
Harry just wanted to get this weird field trip over with when he pulls a boy out of the lake in the cave. Now Harry and Regulus have to navigate between two Lords of Magic and the realization that not everything is what it seems.

he pushes her aside, steals her boat, her food, and— oh, there's even a boat snack right here! finally, the gods are granting him mercy after—
wrong.
in a turn of events, he gets saddled with some stupid kid to "right his wrongdoings". whatever that means.
he just doesn't realize that she'll be sticking with him longer than he'd thought. like, a LOT longer.

The look Moana gives him is one of fond exasperation. “No, you don’t count because you’re my best friend. Come on, let’s go before we’re late.”
She reaches up on her tiptoes to fix his hair, and Maui freezes. She cards gentle fingers through his curls, teasing out the knots, and it feels- well. It feels nice, that’s all.

When Maui visits Motunui three years after the events of Te Fiti, he’s not prepared for the avalanche of feelings that opens up when he mistakes Moana’s little sister for her daughter. Neither is he prepared for his terror when Moana is made tautai and the subject of a brand new prophecy. But her stubbornness is one of the things he loves most about her, so it’s a given that, in a few days, their ragtag crew is sailing towards the jaws of certain death.
He just doesn't understand why she had to bring Moni, Motunui’s newest historian, along. The man’s sailing skills are a joke, his art is mediocre at best, and he’s clearly infatuated with Moana. Romance should be the last thing on their minds during a mission, and Maui’s head is clearer than ever- or so he thinks.

Mikael knows the child is not his, but it is the first time since his darling Freya that he has felt any semblance of joy. Kol and Rebekah follow the child that was not his, and it is when Rebekah is born that he finds out another dark truth. He begs Ayana to help him get his children away from Esther, fearing that if she could give up their beloved Freya, she could sacrifice any of the others any time she saw fit. She agrees to help him, but tells him it will come at a great risk. As long as his children are safe, he does not care. Perhaps he should have asked for another way when she told him not where but when she would be sending him. But really, how much would the world change in a thousand years? Apparently, much more than he ever thought possible. He and his children end up in the woods not far from their village, but the village is no more, and Mikael is no longer so certain he will be able to protect his children as well as he thought.
(In which Mikael knows Klaus is not his but blames his wife instead of the child, and does everything in his power to keep his children safe, which results in him and the children being sent forward to Mystic Falls in July of 2000)
