Summary
“What is this, bring your kid to work day?” a deep, bored voice cuts through the ringing fear in his head. The three men turn towards the speaker immediately, their backs straightening, their whole demeanor shifting almost like soldiers standing at attention. And it’s not like Jason’s ever personally heard Two-Face talk before, but there’s something about this guy’s voice that just takes command of the whole space immediately, demanding consideration like the only natural and safe reaction to him speaking is to listen, and Jason’s pretty sure he knows who he’s going to see before he turns his head.

Just over the metallic grinding of the van against the freeway, unexpectedly close to his left ear, Frank murmurs, “You’re bleeding.”
Gerard twitches away reflexively, head knocking into the greasy window he was leaning against, and twists around to stare at where Frank’s leaning in over the back of his seat, one arm thrown around the headrest, watching him with those big fucking eyes. Jesus.
“Jesus,” he mutters, mouth dry. Then, “What?”

But what this guy doesn’t know is that at fifteen and small Frank wrote in his 6th period English notebook AS GOD AS MY WITNESS I’LL NEVER BE A VICTIM AGAIN and he fucking meant that shit, okay? At twenty and not much bigger, Frank’s already got split knuckles from the last guy who said some high school bullshit to him, and he’s left all that behind with the blood he spat on the tiles of the upstairs boys bathroom during 5th period.
All those sad little victim versions of himself. Losers bowing their heads for the lunch room firing squad. Pansies lining up for locker room target practice. Faggots out behind the gym, practicing digging their own graves.
So, anyway, Frank decks the guy.
