Ted doesn’t mean to stake a claim on her, but once his hand was on her back, it felt so natural to guide her to the door like that. And it seemed to help, even after he slid it a bit lower than was necessary. He wanted to present a united front, but also to confirm to Malcolm that his advances were unwelcome. How better to show that than showcasing Rebecca accepting his touch where she had not allowed Malcolm’s?
