Cue harry potter centric fix-it fic that was made entirely to make me happy, and maybe some others. But it's mostly self indulgent. Throughout this story, Harry will learn to trust and depend on people- become more than The-Boy-Who-Lived, and the others around him will heal from their own issues and gripes with this world, knitting into some fucked up, messily stitched, family quilt. But those stitches will end up stronger than steel and those people will rival titanium together. I hope you enjoy this story about healing, finding family, fixing fate, the power of friendship and family (as corny as it is) and Death and Destiny finding ways to bring a smile to even the most mentally (and physically) scarred. (Especially those with lightning bolt scars)

During one January dinner, Ron and Hermione realise Harry has gone missing. The whole of the castle goes on a manhunt for him when everyone realises he hasn't been in class all day, and has not been seen by the general population.
Draco Malfoy, unwittingly searching through the dungeons for him, even though he wants to just drink his hot chocolate, and mind his own fucking business- thank you very much, Pans- stumbles onto Harry in the kitchens.
As to what Harry is doing... now, that will shock Draco.

Summary
At the end of fifth year, Harry has a lot on his plate to deal with after the events in the Ministry of Magic and the death of his beloved godfather Sirius. Vernon Dursley is having a terrible day at work and the only outlet for his rage is his distracted and unprotected nephew.
Where Vernon doesn't care about the warnings given by the wizards that came with Harry and severely injures him, leaving him for days on his own to die until his magic finally kicks into survival mode and sends Harry straight to the hands of an unexpected protector.
