“Well good well maybe—maybe—we’ll finally get to meet your girlfriend”
Buck nearly choked.
“My what?”
“Your girlfriend Evan you are dating aren’t you? You’re not getting any younger and your sister’s already—”
“Mom”
Buck cut in exasperated.
“Remember I’m bi?”
“Oh yes, yes”
she said dismissively,
“but I figured that was just a phase you know how people are when they’re finding themselves—”
“I have a boyfriend!”
Buck blurted out way too loudly.
There was a long stunned pause on the other end.“You—what?”
Buck’s eyes widened while his brain finally caught up with his mouth that he had absolutely no plan for
“I—I have a boyfriend”
he said again slower this time and it still sounded insane.
“His name is… E—Eddie”
“Oh”
his mom said clearly trying to process all of this new information
“Is this new?”
“Um”
Buck said while looking around his apartment like an escape route that might magically open up in the ceiling
