    Ava followed her commanding officer down the damp, metal stairs. The basement had an industrial look, filled with pipes and concrete pillars to support the city-building above it. She suppressed a shiver, the thin polyester of her pantsuit failing to stop the chill.

    “Why are we interested in a common murder?” she asked Rip as they reached the landing and began threading in between large boilers. “I checked before we left. There’s nothing anachronistic about this incident.”

    The director stopped and looked back at her for a second.

    “Trust me, Agent Sharpe. There is nothing common about this murder.”

    Sara is still feral and chained up in that basement when Ava and the Time Bureau swoop in to try and help *cough* manipulate *cough* her.

    Basically, I was so impressed by Caity Lotz's post-death performance that I wanted to expand on what it would've been like for Sara after the Lazarus Pit. This is a what-if AU that diverges in episode 04x04 of Arrow. What if bringing Sara back wasn't as simple as Constantine bopping her soul back into her body? What if she had a long road ahead to recovering the woman she used to be?
