Summary
The very first thing for him to notice when his senses came back one after another was the warm breath tingling on his face from someone being way too close. The second was the absence of the hard, dusty ground, replaced with soft and warm sheets. The third one was the smell of antiseptic, mixed with blood and sweat.
“Takumi…?”
When he tried to move, a warm hand touched his bandaged back, briefly helping him to properly sit up. Out of instinct, Eito wanted to push it away, but his body was sore and bruised, deeming him unable to put up any kind of resistance.
“You’re in the infirmary. You—”
“I should be dead.”
After leaving Last Defense Academy, Eito is ready to spend his remaining days in solitude until death would inevitably knock on his door. He didn't expect that from all the leftover people on this planet, Takumi would be the one spoiling his plan once again.

“Are you eventually going to talk or are you just going to stand there?”
Kise blinked at the faceless silhouette in front of him, then staring down at the ball in his hand. He’d been here before. Not just once but rather every single day for a week. But the dream had stopped whenever he was asked the same question, had frozen and blurred into black like it was a hint to leave. Well, this time, he wasn’t asked to play with the guy in front of him which left Kise wondering if he’d realized the same or if he was just annoyed to ask by now.
In a world where soulmates share their dreams but can't remember them once awake unless they physically touch outside of it, Kagami and Kise struggle to get into contact with each other - in more than one way. That is, until everything slowly starts to fall into place years after their first encounter.

“But… why?”
“Why not?” Kagami’s response was quick. “You said that you hate being home alone but you enjoy being here. Kinda makes sense to just give you my spare key so you can hang around if you want to - even if I’m not there. Isn’t that what couples do anyway at some point…?”

Kise’s eyes widened.
“I-I mean…” Kagami rubbed the back of his neck. “You don’t need to move in or anything. Just… y’know, be here if you want to? Or not if you don’t want to.”

Kagami was tempted to tell Himuro to fuck off, but then again, this was kind of his late birthday party and it wasn’t his fault that the universe decided to keep Kise away from Kagami’s arms for even longer than those seemingly endless past few weeks. Then again, if he was giving off major impressions of a grumpy old cat, Kagami at least did something right.
