“I used to be really jealous of you,” he says quietly.

Much to his chagrin, Annabeth smiles, and he can almost hear the tease in her words, as if she knew all along. He wouldn’t be surprised if she did.

    "Did you, now?”

“No need to rub it in.”

She snorts at that, her fingers tracing lines and curves along the sand, which makes Nico smile. Just a little.

“Can you blame me? You had respect, won a war, got the guy.” He throws her a weak glare, half-hearted and without any bite. “And you were so fucking nice to me. I couldn’t hate you as much as I tried.”

“I bet you tried a lot, huh?”

or, being a demigod is tough. annabeth and nico decide to talk.

    Summary

He rolls his eyes and dips his fingers in the filling tub. Annabeth can't stop herself from staring — his skin all but shimmers as the water glides up his forearms, and it's in moments like these that she really sees Percy for what he is: the son of a god. He blooms under the water's touch, a flower unfurling its petals for the sun, and the cuts that litter his arms fade away as if they were never there.

When she looks at him like this, she can pretend like he'll never die. That in two weeks, she won't be holding on to his lifeless body.

"Is this good enough?" Percy stretches, shaking his arms as if to prove a point. "You, on the other hand, actually look like a piece of shit."

"You really have a way with words, Jackson. Can you hear how hard my heart is pounding?"

or, Annabeth Chase has spent so much of her life thinking that her best friend was going to die. She doesn't really know what to do now that he's alive.

    Summary

Suddenly, her previous question came to her mind.

"How did you know how to do that?" Annabeth wondered, the curiosity escaping her before she could snuff it out, "My arm, I mean."

Clearly, it was not a question he wanted to be asked. Percy’s gaze dropped to his hands.

“I might’ve had to do it to myself one or twice," he admitted tersely after a moment.

    "Why?"

Annabeth learns a bit about Percy’s past and one of his hidden talents.

    Summary

    I laughed. “You? An architect?”
I don’t know why, but I found it funny. Just the idea of Annabeth trying to sit quietly and draw all day.
Her cheeks flushed. “Yes, an architect. Athena expects her children to create things, not just tear them down, like a certain god of earthquakes I could mention.”

It wasn't until Annabeth watched Percy's face crumple that she realised that perhaps accusing someone of being the ruiner of all good things just like his father, right after he admitted the lengths to which his mother had gone to protect him– from marrying an awful man to literally dying to make sure he reached Camp– was the worst possible thing she could have ever said to anyone ever. Even if he had just laughed at her for thinking she could ever be an architect.
