"What?"
"Take him back, Toodles."The sound - or lack there of - that followed was suffocating, like the world had been swallowed whole by the void.
"We can't... that's not fair, not to him!" Toodles fired back as she watched Rodger turn away, returning to the creaking, groaning machine. His hands moved mechanically, as if each turn of the wheel was draining the life from him. "Please, please... if something goes wrong, let it be my fault!" she begged, but her words were swallowed by the cold, empty air. He didn't turn around, didn't even flinch.
"You can't— you can't leave me down here!" Glisten's chimed "I'm Glisten... the same Glisten, not one of those things!" The words dripped from his mouth like poison, each one burning as it escaped his throat. "I'm not as... fabulous as before, but—" His laugh was a tired, bitter thing, more like a dying gasp. "I'm still the same!"

He’s lost count just how many times he’s heard those phrases. It’s to be expected, he’s the big bad bully everyone hates. Like he cares, he doesn’t at all. He hates them just as much, no, he hates them even more. But right now, it’s not them he hates the most, right now, he hates Goob.
