“I had a crush on Percy.”
That was an understatement. Nico was absolutely smitten with Percy, he loved everything about him- from his raven-black hair, to his ocean green eyes, to the bright smile he had that could light up an entire room. Nico loved the way he was able to put him at ease with just a few words, he loved the way he always smelled of seawater. Even though Nico was terrified of the ocean, of drowning, the smell Percy radiated made him feel at ease. He couldn’t help but feel okay in Percy’s presence.
Although he hated it, Nico wanted Percy all for himself. He wanted to have Percy, to have his smiles and hugs all to himself. Nico knew he couldn’t have them, couldn’t have Percy- all of Percy’s love and affection belonged to Annabeth, and just that thought tore him apart.

Basically, Nico is absolutely in love with Percy while Percy and Annabeth are falling into Tartarus. He's reviewing his feelings after admitting to Jason he "used to" have a crush on Percy, and he comes to terms with the fact he's absolutely smitten for the other boy.
