Summary
There is a tradition in the undercity, when a child is born. People don’t have much, so it is understood that if you’re a new parent, your friends and family can’t necessarily afford to give you gifts in the way topsiders do. So instead, each person brings a small square of cloth, and the new parents sew them together to make a blanket. A patchwork, with a reminder of every person who cares for you, so that your child might grow up surrounded by love.
Vi adores that tradition. So when she and Caitlyn start talking about having kids, one of the first things she thinks about is making a blanket for her child.
There’s just one problem: Vi doesn’t have a family in the undercity anymore. Jinx and Ekko haven’t been a part of her life in years. But when she sees how strongly they react when they find out she’s started a family of her own without them, she realizes that maybe they could be.

“I’ve had an awful day,” Caitlyn bit out, “so if you don’t mind making this easy for me, I’d appreciate it.”
“You’ve had an awful day?” the creature asked, “Cupcake, you’re not the one who was shot.”
Caitlyn froze, both pistols wavering in midair, then lowered with a stunned expression. She took in the yellow eyes, the hulking red fur, the sarcastic tone, and all at once she was assailed by memories - of running in the fields outside of Piltover, lying on her back in the green rolling hills, cheek to cheek with a stout, fit teenager with eyes like ice and a mouth that spelled out trouble.
“Vi?” Caitlyn asked.

(Post-Apocalypse AU - Caitlyn is a Hunter, tasked with capturing escaped 'creatures' by the Academy, a governmental force that trains soldiers. One of the creatures she's sent to extract uses a familiar nickname.)
This version of the story has been abandoned, and is being re-released. This version is being left up for comparison and nostalgia's sake, and also because I can't bear to delete it.

Summary
Posing as a married couple, Vi and Jayce Talis are two hitmen hired by Mel Medarda to take care of several high ranked criminals that have been causing trouble in Piltover and Zaun. Their behavior alerts Caitlyn Kiramman's suspicions when Vi is injured during a run and has to be taken to the local hospital. Caitlyn ends up getting twisted further and further into the web of their deception as she uncovers more of their dark deeds. Despite it all, she finds herself falling for Vi and getting entangled into a dangerous love affair with the deadly assassin.

While Piltover was thriving with the invention of the Hexgates, the undercity was getting poorer and was, as always, left behind. But these past years, the violence within the undercity was getting worse, and the name of Zaun was rising among the people's voices. Crimes against Piltover, committed by undercity gangs, were also becoming more and more common. They were at the verge of a civil war, she could feel it coming. But Caitlyn wasn't about to let it unfold right in front of her without doing nothing. She had to try, it was her duty as an enforcer : to protect the city.
