Summary
Sucrose was left standing in front of the couch as Albedo moved a stack of scrolls on the dining table to make room for another clipboard.
“I, uh… am looking for work,” she spluttered, walking around the couch towards the man.
“I see. It is fortunate, then, that I am in need of an assistant. What do you say, Miss Sucrose?”
“I… um… yes, that sounds… good,” she finished lamely. It couldn’t possibly be this easy to find a job, let alone a job she wasn’t actually looking for in the first place, right? Surely not.
“Then that’s settled,” Albedo nodded confidently. Apparently it could. Sucrose was left standing without a purpose as the wizard went about the room, going through the cabinets and shoving jars and papers in some of them. It gave the rough impression of organised chaos.
“Keep the experiment running,” Albedo instructed Klee, having gathered a lapful of jars with some sort of liquid in them and dashing towards the door once more. “I’ll be back by evening to check on it.” Before Sucrose could ask about her own involvement in the house, the wizard was gone, door swinging shut once more.
