Vi's lips curve into a sarcastic, almost feral smirk.
"Who did you sleep with to get the promotion?"
Vi watches in satisfaction as Caitlyn's eyes widen in shock, her eyebrows raising, lips parting slightly.
"Excuse me?" she asks after a few seconds of stunned silence, clearly taken aback, not believing what she just heard. Vi's grin widens even more.
But the moment is shattered just as quickly. The frustration fades on Caitlyn's face. She rolls her eyes, looking more exasperated than irritated.
"Are you done?" she asks flatly in her perfect Piltie accent, nonchalant and with an air of superiority, "If yes, then we have a job to do."

In other words, CaitVi are detectives and have a bumpy start of their partnership trying to catch a serial killer.

"I'll finish it," Vi rolled her eyes, but a smile still made it on her lips. "Next year," her arms slightly squeezed the waist she was holding. "With you."
Blue eyes watched her skeptically. "Why?"
Vi shrugged looking away. She was graduating this year, meaning she'd have to leave Caitlyn before they met again at the university. And Vi hated it so much that she was willing to repeat the last year of high school to ensure she was okay.
"Dunno," Vi finally murmured. "It seems like the right thing to do.”
"Vi, I'll be alright," her voice was gentle and kind as she placed her hand on Vi's, fingers brushing her battered knuckles softly.
She wasn't.
